Can Your ACO FLEX? Deep Dive on the New ACO Primary Care Flex Model

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released additional details on its new Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Primary Care Flex Model, which will launch in 2025. The new voluntary model, which CMS announced this March, will test primary care capitation in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP). Interested ACOs must first apply or renew for the MSSP by June 17 to be eligible to apply for ACO PC Flex by Aug. 1. The goal of this new model is to increase the predictability of primary care revenue and shift payments away from fee-for-service, while building on the success of the MSSP.
