The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently finalized a new mandatory bundled payment model – Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM) – which will require hospitals in select regions to participate starting in January 2026. Under the model, participating hospitals will be accountable for a 30-day episode of care following five selected surgical procedures: lower extremity joint replacement, surgical hip and femur fracture treatment, spinal fusion, coronary artery bypass graft and major bowel procedure.
